FSS Upgrades AI Surveillance to Combat Crypto Market Manipulation
South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) is bolstering its AI-powered VISTA platform with additional Nvidia H100 GPUs to enhance real-time detection of crypto market manipulation. The regulator secured a 170 million won ($117,640) budget for server expansion, earmarked for another H100 GPU acquisition by Q2 2024.
The upgraded system employs a sliding-window grid search algorithm to automate detection of suspicious trading patterns—a task previously requiring manual analysis. Performance tests on historical cases confirm the technology identifies all manipulation attempts, marking a significant leap in surveillance capabilities.
This follows last year's 220 million won ($152,240) investment in two H100 GPUs that powered the initial 2024 launch of VISTA. The platform specializes in monitoring unfair virtual asset transactions as regulators globally tighten oversight of crypto markets.
